Day 11. Rome -> Venice via walking, taxi, train and boat until we reached our final destination.#leslieseuroadventure #jetsetles#lesismoretravel #europebartthedoor#yolo #eurosaga /// Recap of the day: the Roma Termini is a little rough on the outside but includes a bookstore with a spiral staircase through the sliding doors, there isn’t always a “down” escalator, train station bathrooms are a privilege not a right, candy is definitely not lunch – nor are crackers, sometimes you have to guard your bubble to avoid being invaded for lack of space, trains > planes, splashing through rain puddles is definitely not as fun with a heavy suitcase but still a good laugh, I am not meant for the lower cabin of a boat, dragging luggage around town is a definite sign of a tourist, ponchos are undoubtedly the most fashionable thing even worn, always enjoy the extra bread, a restaurant that also acts as an art gallery is a win for all and grappa is definitely not my drink. Day 12. 7.4 miles of exploring Burano, Murano and Venice.#leslieseuroadventure #lesismoretravel#jetsetles #yolo #eurosaga#europebartthedoor /// Recap of the day: I would like a blue house – or at least a blue door, sailor hats are awesome, cake is a great way to start the day, I could never live on an island, always clarify that you like big “glass” balls, you will be called many variations of “ma’am” to get your attention, Nutella and Pringles are EVERYWHERE, you must stop in every store, gondola rides can be somewhat awkward, witnessing a serenading gondola ride is really the cherry on top, texting and gondola-ing doesn’t seem like a good idea, gelato is good any time of day, glass and lace are a big deal, I miss Charles and a salad sounds pretty good right about now. Day 13. From the Island of Lido, Venice to the bustling city of Milan including 7.4 miles of almost entirely window shopping. #leslieseuroadventure#lesismoretravel #jetsetles#biancashouldbehere #yolo #eurosaga#europebartthedoor #travelbug /// Recap of the day: I am so impressed with the number of spiral staircases throughout Europe, I have never been more appreciative to have the sense of sight, Lido beach blows every other beach out of the water, reading is my favorite pastime, things may not always taste as good as they look, “no” means no, house music plays everywhere, pigeons will get up close and personal, I imagine there used to be more patience at the time when all of these beautiful buildings were built and I realize I only have one more week left in Europe. Day 15. Taking in the beauty of Lake Como in our 9 mile adventure by foot, car and boat. The true wonder can only be experienced in person, not in pictures.#leslieseuroadventure #lesismoretravel#jetsetles #yolo #eurosaga#europebartthedoor #travelbug /// Recap of the day: George Clooney chose the wrong side of the lake, exploring with a local is really the best way to go about traveling, Italians do not “learn” how to drive, cake is for breakfast, gelato is an entirely appropriate meal for lunch, Lake Como really is the most beautiful lake in the world, pineapple on pizza is very “strange” but French fries on pizza is the next great thing, Switzerland is just a skip and a hop away, kiwi grows on trees, my next dog name will be more creative and unfortunately, it is time to part ways with the Italian food. To be continued in London…
